SLAMFEST 2012 POSTPONED
Please note that the Event on the 21st of Jan has been postponed due by order by the Blacktown Police, They believe the amount of entries and response far outweigh the locations capacity and traffic control to maintain an orderly event.
They believe all 1200 invited followers will be attending even we clearly told them that we only have 200 registered entries only so far. We also expressed we would be ceasing per-registration as of Friday 20th Jan 2012 to assure our numbers wouldn’t exceed 250 on the night when the car park in question has the capacity of 489. We took this matter as far as we could, speaking with higher officials and due to the time frame, they were unable to assist. However, they have expressed interest in helping us in the future given enough notice.
When we approached the council about the event, they explained to us everything we had to do to get this running. We followed all advice given. We informed the authorities about this, who were at first ok with us running this. It was only when they followed it up on Wednesday 18th Jan 2012, they started expressing concerns.
We desperately tried to work with every avenue with them but they firmly believe the security and safety of the event is not suitable. We had support from the Blacktown City Council and The State Rail Authority (who own the carpark) to host the event, but Blacktown Police stressed that we cannot support this event due to the amount of volume. Blacktown Police informed us that if we were to proceed with this event on the night without their approval, they would be there on the night to escort us out only to have all vehicles inspected.
We cannot stress how disappointed and apologetic to all followers for this unfortunate postponement. We intend to reschedule this event at a more suitable environment and will work closer with the traffic enforcement agencies on the new venue to be advise on the same channel. We assure you, the event will go ahead in the near future. We intend to create positive and safe environments for our events and we always work within the parameters of the law.
We believe the more we show that there are Responsible Automotive Culture Enthusiast in the mix of all their per-conceived ideas of what our culture is all about.
So please continue to support us as we try and get this off the ground. We understand the limited amount of events for the import scene and we are working build a series of events and make this scene strong again.
We will be in touch once we have a new venue and date sorted.
